Knives

The knife is one of the oldest and most widely used tools by humans. It is one of the tools that has allowed us to survive as a species, as it has served us not only as a hunting tool and as an implement for manufacturing and building all kinds of things, but also as a personal protection weapon.

The importance of this tool is undeniable, and it can be stated with certainty that over time, a knife not only does not lose its value but gains even more personal significance.

Types of knives

It is also worth mentioning the variety of forms that exist within the world of cutlery. Among this multitude, the following main types of knives can be distinguished:

Service knives (kitchen)

These are knives that have been designed for domestic or industrial use in the field of food preparation and modification. This type is so broad that we cannot really define common characteristics for all of them, beyond the purpose for which they were designed. Here, for example, we can find a sharp, large knife for meat, or a small serrated knife with almost no sharpness for bread.

Utility knives

Like kitchen knives, this is a very broad type, where each sub-type has its own characteristics. The only criterion that allows us to classify this group is that these knives are designed to offer very particular characteristics and functions related to very specific jobs. One could say they are professional knives. Among them are, for example, barber knives, survival knives, or hunting knives.

Combat knives

This type of knife is used as a bladed weapon by military personnel worldwide. These knives are specially designed for these purposes, to ensure their comfortable and effective use. Among combat knives, we can highlight the following: the Bowie knife (used by the United States Army), or the Kukri (which has accompanied Nepalese soldiers for centuries).

Ethnic knives

This type includes knives traditionally used in certain countries or regions. For example, the Canarian knife. A small knife, characterized by having an elaborately crafted handle or hilt, composed of several metal and bone pieces. Another example is the Seax, which is a single-edged knife of Germanic tribes. Initially, it was used as a tool, but over time it also came to be used as a bladed weapon.

In this category, we mainly offer utility and ethnic knives. Discover our selection!
