Robin Hood, "King of the Forest", the outlaw who roamed Sherwood Forest in the early 14th century, was born around 1290, the son of Adam Hood, a forester in the service of the Earl of Warenne and lord of the Manor of Wakefield.

Robin became a popular hero for his defense of the helpless; Robin Hood's sword was always at the service of the poor. He seized the riches of the powerful and distributed them among the poor; furthermore, by mocking the unpopular authorities of that time, he gained the support of the oppressed peasants.

Robin Hood's adventures in the forests continued until around 1346; he is said to have died in that year at Kirklees Priory.

The story ends when Robin Hood, sword in hand, manages to sound his hunting horn for the last time before dying, shooting an arrow from his bedroom window towards the forest and asking to be buried where the arrow had fallen. Even today it is possible to see the site that Robin chose as his grave.

The story of Robin Hood is a romantic one that has been kept alive and retold for 600 years, giving rise to a series of creations, among which we can highlight the reconstruction of Robin Hood's mythical sword.
