Sir Lancelot Du Lac was knighted by King Arthur and became one of the most famous and legendary characters of the "Round Table." He was King Arthur's most trusted knight and played a significant role in many of his victories.
Queen Guinevere herself was his lady the day he took his knightly vows. In the conquest of the castle of "Dolorous Gard," he discovers his origins: son of King Ban of Benoic, who lost his kingdom and sent his son Lancelot to Arthur's court, accompanied by the Lady of the Lake, to be knighted.
His love affair with Queen Guinevere herself led him to face all the Knights of the Round Table who wanted to save their lord Arthur's tarnished honor.
Legend has it that, when Arthur learns of the relationship between Lancelot and his wife, he condemns her to the stake and banishes Lancelot forever. However, Lancelot returns to Camelot and rescues Guinevere from her fate, killing some of his former comrades of the Round Table in the endeavor, for which the king marches against him.
In his absence, the throne is usurped by his illegitimate son, Mordred, who kills his father in the subsequent struggle. Guinevere, upon learning of her husband's death, enters a convent, so Lancelot decides to become a hermit until the end of his days, just six weeks after learning of Guinevere's death in the convent.
Before he dies, the Lady of the Lake comes to his aid, and with her, he sinks forever beneath the waters of the Lake.
